Save-On-Foods Stuff the Truck event supports Food Bank

With great excitement, radio station 89.7 Juice FM has announced it is returning to Save on Foods in Duncan for the annual Stuff the Truck event from Dec. 5 to Dec. 9, an event which benefits a number of regional food banks, including the one at Ladysmith Resources Centre Association on Second Avenue in Ladysmith.

The event is bringing back its Pallet Challenge, described below.

Stuff the Truck is Juice FM’s week to give back to the Cowichan Valley and use the power of radio to raise food and cash donations benefiting our local food banks and charities in Duncan, Chemainus, Lake Cowichan, Crofton, and Ladysmith. Last year generous donors purchased 538 pallets, smashing previous records.

This year event organizers want to ensure Cowichan Valley food bank shelves and launched the Pallet Challenge earlier, in November.

What is the Pallet Challenge?

Jeff and his team at Save On Foods created a pallet of ‘most used’ items.  These items can include flour, toilet paper, powdered milk, canned goods, toiletries and more, basic household items that some families struggle to afford.  All of these goods are packed onto a pallet, which when fully loaded weighs 1,000 pounds.

Businesses, local organizations, and private donors are invited to step up to accept the Pallet Challenge and purchase a pallet (or more) at a cost of $500 per pallet.  A payment form link allows online donations here.
