Thankful for donations of all sizes: Backpack program, Food Bank, Cheer
Rotary presents $5,000 for LRCA backpack program, Cheer
Suzanne Otterson (Ladysmith Rotary Community Services Director) and Brian King (Rotary treasurer) visited LRCA were at LRCA to give a $5,000 cheque for LRCA's School Backpack Program ($4,500) and a further $500 for our Christmas Cheer campaign.
Through LRCA Food Sustainability efforts, the School Backpack Program will provide non-perishable food and other resources to children from marginalized/low income families for weekends and holidays. Local schools currently provide lunch and snack programs during the week. LRCA will purchase the backpacks for the students, along with appropriate items to fill them, and deliver the packs to schools where they will be distributed by teachers at the end of each week.
