Medical Transport

Please call 250-245-3079 10-14 days in advance to make an appointment.

The LRCA operates a wheelchair lift-equipped van. It's primary purpose is to allow seniors access to medical treatment where independent means of transportation are not possible.

How Does It Work?

If a senior requires assistance in attending to medical treatment in Nanaimo or Duncan and they have no means of transportation they can call the LRCA at 250-245-3079. Please note that we do not service appointments to Island Health Facilities. If you need transportation to an Island Health Facility we encourage you to contact the Island Health Medical Transportation Program at Info.Patient.Transportation@islandhealth.ca

If you do not have access to email, please call us and we can arrange transportation with Island Health on your behalf.

Our medical transportation program operates only through the commitment and dedication of volunteers and donations from the public.

We request that bookings be made as early as possible to assist us in scheduling and finding volunteers. Two weeks pre-booking is preferred.

About Us

It all began early in 1992 at a meeting of the Ladysmith Inter-Agency Liaison Committee, a group of representatives from the government-mandated agencies formed in the early 1970s to maximize cooperation among the agencies while minimizing the duplication of services.

In 1992, this group pooled some of their own money and decided to form a non-profit association to try to deal with these recurring situations. This became the foundation of the Ladysmith Resources Centre Association.
