Volunteer Profile – Everyone Knows Keith Ling

Almost everyone knows Keith Ling in Ladysmith.

“In fact, I know too many people,” he said.

The affable 48-year-old has contributed to the financial health of the Ladysmith Resources Centre Association (LRCA) for six years, raising almost $2,000 in that time.

He is on the LRCA Affordable Housing Project building committee and has directed donations through The Junction Bottle Depot at 149 Oyster Bay Drive (account #149), an account which currently has almost $600.

Bottle contributions to the LRCA Food Bank are through account #145.

Keith was born in North Bay, Ontario. His dad was in the Airforce for 26 years and passed away in 1995.

Keith’s mom, Audrey, lives in Ladysmith after moving here with the family in 1988 from Prince George.

“I probably have 20 different jobs,” said Ling, pointing out you can find him working at 49th Parallel grocery store on Tuesdays and at the Ladysmith Thrift Store on Fridays.

Why does he volunteer?

“I have too much fun doing it,” he said.

When he’s not working, Keith likes to camp, hike and go geo-caching.

The LRCA certainly appreciates all of his volunteer efforts!
