LRCA shares in Aggie Hall’s 100th
Sharing our own stories and promoting our 30th anniversary, Ladysmith Resources Centre Association was pleased to participate with a table in the 100th anniversary of Ladysmith Agricultural Hall on Sept. 24.
A variety of community groups were at Aggie Hall, and opening ceremonies included the Young Wolves Dance Group, speeches and a cake cutting.
The all-day open house also featured a retro agricultural fall fair. Categories from 1922 included everything from fruits to flowers, knitting to embroidery, squashes to watercolours and models.
A children’s activity tent, an exhibit of artifacts and memorabilia, a slide show, Cade demonstration, dance lessons were part of the fun.
Event coordinator Lesley Moore said the special free anniversary was made possible through the generous support of Canadian Heritage, the Town of of Ladysmith, Ladysmith Historical Society, Ladysmith Air Cadets, community contributions.
The hall has hosted agriculture fairs, community dances and legendary rockers, including Ray Orbison and Jerry Lee Lewis.
LRCA has held many events at the Aggie Hall over the years. They include Christmas Cheer preparations and major community fundraisers.
