
Hundreds celebrate opening of Heart on the Hill affordable housing building
Dozens of tours and hundreds of people were part of the excitement of the official opening March 25 of the Ladysmith Resources Centre Association's 36-unit Heart on the Hill affordable housing project.
Nanaimo-North Cowichan MLA Doug Routley, St, John the Baptist Anglican Church Rev. Deborah Rivet, LRCA board president Sandra Marquis and Ladysmith Mayor Aaron Stone together cut the official ribbon to launch the project which includes a commercial kitchen and 900-square-foot community hall. Tours of one-bedroom, two bedroom and accessible units on the second floor were conducted by LRCA board members and staff.
Rivet blessed the building, stepping in for a former reverend from the St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church which once stood on the site.
Visitors enjoyed a special cake, cupcakes, a video of the building's construction. More details about the project are HERE.
Tour participants commented on a number of the building's features, including the scenic views, well-planned suite layouts and large windows.
