Restorative Justice Project Coordinator

Part Time Contract Position (12 hours per week for 44 weeks)

Job Purpose

The LRCA is recruiting for a Restorative Justice Project Coordinator to assist the Ladysmith Resources Centre Association to be “the centre of change in Ladysmith”. Working for the LRCA will bring rewarding benefits and give opportunities to gain relevant further skills and knowledge in the community safety and wellness sector. The LRCA is seeking an individual with community development and community-based research skills. The purpose of the project is to enhance the Restorative Justice Program in the Ladysmith area, develop strong linkages to local RCMP, Police Based Victim Services and build more community awareness for restorative justice through public engagement and identifying the current status of community safety, crime prevention and conflict resolution resources and gaps with the support of a Steering Committee and the Executive Director.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Building relationships between local agencies working within the community safety and wellness sector
  • Building education and awareness of restorative justice through developing and implementing workshops and presentations for agencies
  • Developing and implementing events promoting public engagement around community safety issues and restorative justice principles
  • Conducting community-based research through collecting anecdotal data, survey data and promising practices from other restorative justice programs
  • Report Writing

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree or diploma in a social service area preferred
  • Experience or working knowledge of the justice system including a basic knowledge of restorative justice principles
  •  Knowledge of working with First Nations
  • Community development experience
  • Community based research experience
  • Experience using data collection computer programs like Excel
