We’re Hiring – Shelter Support Worker
The LRCA is Hiring Shelter Support Workers, we have a variety of shifts to fill within our 24 hour staffing model.
We are looking for shelter workers who are passionate about making a difference and are available to start working in our 24-hour, 7 days a week emergency shelter for adults.
As a shelter worker, you work in a team environment to provide intake, orientation, support, supervision and assistance to unhoused individuals facing multiple barriers.
Job Summary:
- The Shelter Support Worker will provide support services to people in the Ladysmith community in need of shelter. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Safe operations and maintenance of the shelter facility
- Evaluating and assessing individual’s needs for shelter
- Completing necessary documentation and statistics
- Providing basic needs (snack bags, meals, hygiene items, clothing, harm reduction supplies)
- Coordinating crisis support
- Completing other duties related to programming and associated supports as required.
- The Shelter Support Worker carries out these responsibilities in accordance with the mission, vision, values and policies of the Ladysmith Resources Centre Association, along with relevant legislation and regulations governing the program to ensure efficient and high-quality service provision
Education and Experience:
- Minimum High School Diploma
- Experience in the fields of mental health, addictions, conflict management and/or housing services is a preferred asset
- Experience in written and verbal communications
- Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team
- Occupational First Aid Level One certification to be completed within 90 days of hire
- Food Safe Certificate
- Acceptable Police Vulnerable Sector Check upon hire to be maintained throughout employment
