Beatlemania stole the show on Sunday for the first Ladysmith Resources Centre Association Concerts in the Park fundraiser show in two years.
A capacity crowd started gathering an hour in advance, and when the band began its chronological performance of Beatles hits, not only children but adults were dancing the night away at Transfer Beach Amphitheatre.
“The generosity of the crowd was amazing as donations hit a record as the storm clouds parted and the sun shone on the venue,” said Rick Rake, LRCA manager of communications and events.
Next up at the amphitheatre are the Doctors of Rock ‘n Roll at 6 p.m. this Sunday, July 24. Showtime is 6 p.m. Other concerts are set for Aug. 14 (Chris Noel and the Burning House) and Aug. 21 (The Tasha Adams Quartet), thanks to sponsorships by local businesses and community groups.
Audience members at Ladysmith Resources Centre Association Concerts in the Park fundraiser overwhelmed volunteers (left to right) Ally Segreto, Barb Champagne, Pat McFarlane and Janis Beecroft with their generous donations on Sunday while Beatlemania performed.
